Denver weather: High wind warning Monday, temps cool down

Denver residents should expect cool but windy conditions on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Monday should by mostly sunny, with a high near 60 degrees and west winds of 23-31 mph, the weather agency said. Gusts will be as high as 47 mph.

A high wind warning is in effect until midnight Tuesday, with with west winds between 35-45 mph and gusts to 65 mph. Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Brief power outages are possible and travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

The winds are expected to persist through Monday night, decreasing to 11-16 mph after midnight, according to NWS.

Tuesday: A 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Windy, with a southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west 23 to 28 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 60. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 11 to 17 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 61.
