Denver police investigate homicide after man shot and killed near east Colfax

A man died at the scene after he was shot in Denver on Sunday morning.
The shooting happened near the 8800 block of East Colfax Avenue, according to Denver police.
A police spokesperson told The Denver Gazette the call for a shooting came in at 5:08 a.m. Sunday morning. Upon arrival, police found a man deceased at the scene, police said.
Authorities are investigating the shooting as a homicide, police said, adding no one is in custody.
As of 9:30 a.m., eastbound lanes in the area on East Colfax Avenue remain closed.
