Two people died and a third was injured in a shooting at an apartment complex Thursday night, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Department spokesperson Caitlin Ford said police received reports of shots fired around 10:15 p.m. at the Stone Canyon Apartments near Murray Boulevard and Platte Avenue on the east side of the city.

Police said one victim died at the scene and a second at the hospital. The condition of the third victim was unknown at press time.

According to Ford, no suspect is in custody.

“Our investigators are still attempting to identify a potential suspect, but I will reiterate that this wasn’t a random act of violence,” Ford said.

“We believe all the involved parties had a known association with each other.”

Investigators remained at the apartments Friday morning.

Ford said investigators are continuing to ask anyone with information or who was a witness to the incident to call CSPD at 719-444-7000.
