Reservations officially open for Mount Blue Sky, one of Colorado’s most iconic peaks

Reservations for visits to the highly-coveted Mount Blue Sky outdoor recreation destination in Colorado are now open, as of May 21 at 8 a.m.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, reservations are required if you are planning to park and visit Mount Goliath Natural Area, Summit Lake Park, of the Mount Blue Sky Summit between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Reservations can be made up to 30 days before your visit.

Although Mount Blue Sky traditionally opens on Memorial Day weekend, this year it will open on May 31, weather dependent.

Construction on a section of Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway will impact visitors in 2024 and 2025. Construction begins in late July or early August 2024, and there will be a temporary lane closure in the project area near Summit Lake.

Mount Blue Sky Highway will be closed to motorized and non-motorized travel starting on September 3 with the closure will last through 2025. The public closure area will be from the CDOT gate on Colorado Highway 5 through the project area above Summit Lake.
