The early morning fire damaged 18 units on the first floor
Two firefighters were injured during an early morning fire at a storage unit near Interstate 70 and Wadsworth Boulevard.
Arvada Fire got the call about 6:15 a.m., Tuesday, for a fire at a storage unit at 8495 North Interstate 70 Frontage Road, according to Jullian Moore with Arvada Fire. The buildings belong to StorQuest.
According to Arvada Fire, 18 units on the first floor had smoke and fire damage. The building contains 78 units overall. Most of the units were affected by either the fire or the attempts at extinguishment, the department said.
“I anticipate this is going to be a couple-day operation while we try to secure the person’s personal items and try to find out the cause and determination of the fire,” Arvada Deputy Chief Matt Oiser said in a press conference following the fire, adding that the department is attempting to be gentle with people’s property during the overhaul process.
Oiser noted that the extent of the two firefighter’s injuries are unknown at this time.
They received assistance from West Metro Fire, Fairmount Fire and the Arvada Police Department in battling the fire.
