Police are investigating a crash that left one woman dead in Lakewood Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the crash near the intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Garrison Street — right next to the Safeway in Heverly Heights — around 7 a.m., according to a social media post by the Lakewood Police Department.

The woman driving one of the vehicles was later pronounced dead. Her passenger was also injured in the incident. The driver of a truck was taken to a nearby hospital, as well.

Initial investigation found that the truck was involved in two separate crashes near the Safeway. The truck driver had allegedly struck the woman’s car then hit another vehicle in the parking lot.

The intersection opened at 10:30 a.m. after being closed for over three hours.
