Denver weather: Thunderstorms threat continues on Monday

Denver residents can expect a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

It will be partly sunny and warm, with a high near 86 and light and variable winds becoming west southwest between 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

“Scattered thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon to early evening time frame,” the NWS said. “They will first develop over the higher elevations by early afternoon, then move eastward onto adjacent plains this afternoon and onto the east plains through the early evening hours. A few strong to severe storms are possible with hail around/just above 1 inch and severe wind possible in the strong/severe storms.”

Tonight, expect a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Tuesday: A 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 95.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 86.
