Denver weather: Cooler Friday after a very hot Thursday
After the mercury reached 97 degrees at Denver International Airport on Thursday, Friday’s high will dip back into the low 80s, along with storminess returning to the Mile High City.
Denver residents can expect showers and thunderstorms Friday, mainly between 3-4 p.m., with some of the storms becoming severe, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
It’ll be partly sunny with a high near 85 and light and variable winds will blow, becoming west northwest 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
“Scattered to numerous showers and storms will occur this afternoon starting as early as 1 p.m.,” the NWS said. “Storms may become severe east of the I-25 corridor producing large hail, damaging wind gusts up to 65 mph and heavy rainfall. Localized flooding could occur and there is a minor risk of flooding across the Cameron Peak burn area through this evening.”
Tonight, there is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m., and it will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Northwest wind around 8 mph becoming south in the evening.

Saturday: A 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Sunny, with a high near 91. South southwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming northwest in the morning.
Father’s Day: Sunny, with a high near 95. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 93.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 86.
