Child seriously injured after police chase

A child was injured after a police chase on Sunday, the Denver Police Department said.

A woman was also injured, though police believed it was from a previous incident in which someone had shot at their car.

The driver of the car, which was riddled with bullet holes, had approached Denver Paramedics near east 45th Avenue and north Peoria Street early on Sunday morning.

Police believe the bullet holes resulted from a separate event that happened in Aurora.

The driver was standing outside the vehicle and appeared to be flagging down the paramedics. However, when paramedics approached, the driver got back in the vehicle and fled, the police said.

At this point, Denver police officers got involved and chased the car. Officers stopped the vehicle by executing a PIT maneuver at Pecos Street and Interstate 76.

A total of seven people were in the vehicle, including an “unrestrained child,” police said.

The driver fled on foot but police found the person at a hospital. The driver told the police that someone had shot at their vehicle.

Authorities brought the rest to an area hospital, four of whom were reportedly injured. A child also suffered serious injuries. A grown woman also appeared to have suffered from an arm injury at the first incident in Aurora, the police said.
