Denver weather: High temperatures resides Monday with heat advisories in place

The last week of June starts off very warm as high pressure takes up residency over the mountain west, including Colorado.
Denver residents can expect a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It’ll be mostly sunny, with a high near 96.
But beware, a heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m., Monday to 9 p.m., Tuesday.
Light and variable winds will blow, becoming north northwest 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon and winds could gust as high as 17 mph, otherwise it will very warm throughout the day.
“Very warm to hot temperatures are expected today across northeast Colorado with highs in the 95 to 100 degree range,” the NWS said. “This afternoon, isolated to scattered high based thunderstorms will bring strong outflow winds gusting to 50 mph, but little rainfall.”
Tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 65. North northwest winds will blow between 6 to 8 mph, becoming south southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 96. South southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm.
Wednesday: A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 95. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming east southeast in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.
Thursday: A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 93.
Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.
