Brenton Doyle’s hot streak earned him a personal milestone on Monday.
He was named the National League player of the week after he hit .524 to start July with four home runs, four walks and a 1.268 slugging percentage to lead the majors and earn the Rockies’ first weekly honor since Nolan Jones on Oct. 3, 2023.
It was Doyle’s first weekly honor after earning a rookie-season Gold Glove last year.
Doyle also claimed the league’s Electric play of the week award last week after a game-saving diving catch against Chicago. He’s the first Colorado player to earn both honors.
“I love to see players get rewarded for hard work,” manager Bud Black said Friday about the outfielder’s offseason work. “I love when players put their nose to the grindstone and set their mind to do something and change. He did it.”
Doyle is one of four players in the majors with at least 25 extra-base hits, 20 stolen bases and at least 10 home runs. Bobby Witt Jr., Elly De La Cruz and Jarren Duran are the others.
He’s also the first Rockies player with four straight multi-hit games since Raimel Tapia in 2021. The hot streak helped the Rockies to their first three-game win streak and series win since May.
