Brush fire in Arapahoe County destroys 8 structures and 1150 acres of land
Eight structures were destroyed in the Quail Hollow brush fire, with multiple fire departments on scene Saturday afternoon.
The fire is 100% contained as of 3:05 p.m., but crews will be on scene throughout the night to work on mopping up hotspots, according to Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown.
The final estimated size of the fire is 1,150 acres, and much of it was farmland.
At least four homes and three outbuildings were destroyed in the fire, and citizens were evacuated from their homes within a three-mile radius near County Road 193 and County Road 34, officials said.
At this time, there are no reported human injuries, and Arapahoe County does not have a count on how many homes or home many people were evacuated.
Three single engine air tankers and one chopper provided air support, while ground crews worked to protect several nearby homes.
The cause of the fire still remains unknown, and arson investigators from Arapahoe County will be working to determine the origin of the fire, according to Sheriff Brown.
This is a developing story and will be updated as information is available.
