Denver weather: Sunny and hot Thursday

Temperatures in Denver will near the triple digits Thursday as areas of smoke continue to linger throughout the state, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
Expect sunny skies and hot temps reaching a high of 98 degrees. Winds from the southeast will range between 5 and 10 mph, with gusts reaching upwards of 17 mph.
Looking ahead to Thursday night, expect partly cloudy skies and a low of 67 degrees.
Moisture will return to the Denver area Friday with a 40% chance of thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny skies are in the forecast alongside temps in the mid-90s.
A chance for afternoon showers will continue through Saturday as temps remain hot in the 90s.
