Lake Shore fire 100% contained, 1 home lost
The Lake Shore fire near the Gross Reservoir in Boulder County was 100% contained as of about noon Thursday, according to the Boulder Office of Disaster Management.
All evacuation orders and road closures were lifted earlier in the morning.
One home was lost to the fire, which started around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to officials. An “all clear” was sent out Thursday morning, lifting all evacuations.
Crews will remain in the area mopping up hot spots, according to Mountain View Fire Rescue.
The fire began near Lake Shore Park Road in the Mountain View Fire District by the northeast corner of Gross Reservoir in the Lake Shore Park area.
The fire appears to have been human-caused and accidental, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities are speaking with two people believed to be involved, according to Boulder County Sheriff Curtis Johnson, adding no arrests have been made.
Authorities called in a Type 2 helicopter to pour water on the fire, which pulled water from Gross Reservoir, and dumped it on the flames, Johnson said.
The Lake Shore Fire ignited amid a growing wildfire near Stone Canyon, which has burned through nearly 1,600 acres, five structures, and left one person dead in Boulder County near Lyons.
Meanwhile, the Alexander Mountain fire continues to grow near Loveland and the Quarry fire remains small down near Littleton.
Johnson said some crews from the Stone Canyon fire were quickly diverted to the Lake Shore Fire site.
