– Denver Wyndham Clark, a Valor Christian graduate, finished tied for 14th in the Olympic golf tournament. Clark shot 6-under in the final round, finishing at 11-under for the tournament after opening play with a first-round 75 (which tied for the third-worst first round in the field of 57 players).

– The U.S. women’s volleyball team qualified for the quarterfinals, topping France 3-0 (29-27, 29-27, 25-20) behind 11 points (nine kills, two blocks) from Doherty graduate Haleigh Washington.

The U.S. finished pool play 2-1.

– Valerie Constien, an Edwards native and CU graduate, qualified for the finals in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:16.33.

– Monument’s Keith Sanderson placed 19th in qualifying for the 25m rapid fire pistol.

Three to watch

Looking ahead to Sunday’s Olympic action with a focus on those with Colorado connections.

1. Lauren Gale, a Colorado Springs native who ran at Discovery Canyon and Colorado State, will compete as part of Team Canada in the first round of heats in the women’s 400-meter race.

Also on the track, Elise Cranny of Boulder will compete in the women’s 5,000.

2. In field events, Valarie Allman of Longmont will compete in the women’s discus throw finals after registering the top mark in qualifying.

3. Colin Duffy, a 20-year-old climber from Broomfield, will compete in the semifinals of the men’s boulder and lead.
