Coloradans in the Games: Thursday’s results and Friday’s lookahead for those with state ties in the Paris Olympics

– Greenwood Village’s Anna Hall sits in third place after four of the seven events in the women’s heptathlon.
Great Britain’s Katarina Johnson-Thompson leads with 4,055 points, Belgium’s Nafissatou Thiam is second with 4,007 and Hall is third with 3,956.
Hall placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (13.36), third in the high jump (1.89 meters), eighth in the shot put (14.11 meters) and eighth in the 200 (23.89 seconds).
– Brooke Raboutou of Boulder finished the semifinals in third place in the women’s combined (boulder & lead) climbing competition.
Raboutou was third in boulder points (83.7) and fourth in lead (72.1). The finals will be held Saturday.
– The U.S. women’s volleyball team survived a 3-2 thriller vs. Brazil 25-23, 18-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-11.
Aurora’s Jordyn Poulter and Colorado Springs’ Haleigh Washington will take the U.S. into the final vs. Italy.
The U.S. won its first volleyball gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo and will now have a chance to repeat.
– The U.S. men’s basketball team earned a shot at the gold medal when it edged Serbia 95-91 on Thursday, overcoming a 17-point deficit.
Derrick White, who starred at Legend High School, UCCS and CU will aim for his first gold medal Saturday.
The loss places Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic into the bronze medal game.
Two to watch
Looking ahead to Friday’s Olympic action with a focus on those with Colorado connections.
1. Anna Hall will compete in the final three events of the heptathlon – the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
Hall, a Valor Christian graduate, is in third place through four events.
2. Broomfield’s Colin Duffy will compete in the finals of combined climbing (boulder and lead). Duffy qualified for the finals with the seventh best score.
