Braden was initially arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 8, 2023 when Braden allegedly exposed himself to two separate, lone female hikers at Stapleton Park near Beaver Brook Trail.
Deputies said Braden approached a hiker and exposed himself to her and began masturbating. The victim was able to run away and report the incident.
Braden then allegedly exposed himself to another woman a few moments later. He also tried to grab one of the women.
Following a two-and-a-half-hour search and a short foot chase, deputies were able to apprehend Braden.
Investigators tied Braden to at least five other incidents targeting female hikers on:
- April 3 at Flying J Ranch Park in Conifer
- June 13 at Three Sisters/Alderfer Park
- July 11, 18 and 24 at Flying J Ranch Park
Several women reported that a man, later identified as Braden, groped them. One woman reported that he tried to rip her shirt down from the front collar.
Following his arrest, Braden told investigators that he hiked around dusk on Mondays and Tuesdays, according to arrest records.
Braden admitted to purposefully exposing himself to women, according to the affidavit. He admitted the women reacted with disgust, but he felt compelled to commit the sexual acts.
Initially, Braden faced 17 charges, but 14 were dismissed as part of the plea deal.
The suspect remained in custody since his arrest and is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 30.
