Kickin it with Kiz: Why does Kevin Durant feel the urge to rage against Nuggets fans as lame cornballs?

Kevin Durant should have better things to do in Paris at the Olympics than giving Nuggets fans grief about cheering for Nikola Jokic against Team USA. K.D. comes across like a whiny baby, which he is.

– Dan, the man

Kiz: I’m not sure LeBron James and the fellas beat Serbia in the Oly semifinals if Durant doesn’t insist on his teammates clearing out half the floor so he can hit a dagger of a jump shot to put the USA ahead 93-89 with 34 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. The dude is fearless. But Durant can also be ridiculously petty, as witnessed by his war of words on social media after a hard-fought victory. Durant’s rant on X: “You Nuggets fans, nobody gives a (bleep) who y’all lames believe is the best player in the world. Players got major respect for Jok, we don’t worship him like y’all do … Trolling you cornballs for rooting against us is a part of the game.”

Durant doesn’t get it. No NBA fans love him the way Nuggets fans love Jokic.

– G.E.C., no love lost

Kiz: I suspect that LeBron James, Durant and the OGs on this U.S. Olympic team clearly see the world order being shifted by Victor Wembanyama and Jokic. I get the sense the fading dominance of American hoops makes the graybeards on Team USA very crabby.

This season is all about if Bo Nix is the guy. Record be damned, the Broncos need to know if we need to shop for a quarterback again in the 2025 draft or we can start building around Nix. So whether he looks good or bad is what I’m looking for in the exhibition game against the Colts.

– Tommy, orange and blue diehard

Kiz: For openers against the Colts, I’d be happy with just one, long TD drive orchestrated by Nix. Would you?

Jamal Murray ain’t the player he used to be? Did people forget the two buzzer-beaters against the Lakers in this year’s NBA playoffs? I believe Kiszla isn’t the writer he was five years ago.

– T.R., slinging arrows

Kiz: Well, after the Herculean task of typing Kickin’ It, it’s now essential for me to hop in the cold tub. I ain’t no spring chicken. But I’m more consistent at firing zingers than Murray is at draining shots.

I agree 100 percent, Kiz. Murray’s game has steadily declined since the Nugget’s championship season and it doesn’t look like it’s ever going to be at that championship level again.

– J.P., dollar-wise investor

Kiz: Jokic turns 30 years old in February. It would be a crying shame if the Nuggets waste what remains of Joker’s prime by spending too much money on less than Grade A prime NBA talent.

And today’s parting shot is a kind offer to help me shop for a groovy apartment on Avenue des Champs-Elysees.

Please throw your slurpy, feel-good, trying to be an artificial ‘nice sportswriter guy’ stories in the Seine and stay in Paris. Don’t return to Colorado.

– J.T., misses me
