Day 15 of Broncos training camp: Two-minute drills end with touchdowns
Stephen Swofford Denver Gazette
ENGLEWOOD — A behind-the-scenes look at Broncos training camp practice Thursday with observations and analysis from The Denver Gazette.
Play of the day
Quarterback Jarrett Stidham connected with wide receiver David Sills on a 30-plus yard reception on the first play of a team period in pads. Sills stretched the defense vertically, made the catch with cornerback Riley Moss in coverage, and put the Broncos in scoring position.
QB watch
Stidham predictably operated the first-team offense to maintain the QB rotation with rookie Bo Nix. Stidham and Nix each led two-minute periods to end practice. Both midfield drives closed with passing touchdowns. Zach Wilson continued his work as the third-team quarterback.
Stock rising
Pass rush. All three QBs faced ample pressure in 11-on-11 situations with edge rushers doing most of the work.
Stock falling
RB Jaleel McLaughlin. He dropped a pass during a 7-on-7 period in the red zone.
Attendance check
There were no unexpected absences.
Injury report
Cornerbacks Art Green (concussion) and Levi Wallace (hamstring) did not practice. Tight end Lucas Krull (toe) and safety Brandon Jones (hamstring) increased their participation. Wide receiver Devaughn Vele went into the facility during practice with athletic training staff after stretching out his lower body.
What’s next
Training camp concludes to the public at 10 a.m. on Friday with a joint practice (Packers) at Broncos Park.
