Hideki Matsuyama withdraws from BMW Championship

CASTLE PINES – Hideki Matsuyama has withdrawn from the BMW Championship because of lower back pain. 

Matsuyama, who won last week in Memphis and is third in the FedEx Cup Standings, was in second place at 5-under after Thursday’s first round. 

His spot in the Tour Championship is secure if he can play.
