Train crash injures 2 in Boulder on Thursday night
Boulder Police responded to a train colliding with other train cars in Boulder on Thursday night, which injured two conductors who were on board, Boulder police said in a post on social platform X..
Around 10:43 p.m., Thursday, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train traveling southbound from Valmont Road to Pearl Parkway crashed into other train cars on the track, derailing some cars.
Two conductors who were on board at the time were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Boulder Police said initially it was believed that fuel was leaking from the engine into the nearby creek, but is now believed that all the fuel was absorbed by sand that spilled out of one of the cars.
All roads around the train crash are open, but police said the train is a about a mile-long, and will take some time to clean up and move the cars.
One rail bridge was destroyed in the crash, but no city property was damaged aside from some trees.
The BNSF Railway has now taken the lead on the train wreck.
