Littleton High football program under investigation for assault allegations

The school canceled practice, team dinner, and a scrimmage as an investigation is underway

A south suburban Denver high school football program is under investigation after an anonymous tip that there had been an assault among team members.

In a message to parents and students, Littleton High School Principal Thomas Velazquez noted allegations made of an alleged assault among team members within the football program.

School administrators made the announcement on Friday, saying they received an anonymous tip the day prior.

“Littleton High administration, along with the Littleton Police Department, are investigating allegations of assault among members of the LHS football team,” Velazquez said.

Friday’s practice and team dinner, plus Saturday’s scrimmage, was canceled, according to the school.

Further details of the assault investigation remain unclear.

“We will fully cooperate with the Littleton Police Department as they continue the investigation. We will keep you updated as we are able, as this situation evolves and as we receive more details that will inform our next steps,” Velazquez said.

The Littleton High School Lion’s football team is slated to travel to Canon City for its first game of the season on Friday.
