Arapahoe Ridge High School locked down due to ‘suspicious’ person report
The Boulder County Sheriff's Office is responding to the scene
Arapahoe Ridge High School — located in eastern Boulder — was placed under lockdown early Tuesday afternoon following reports of a suspicious person in the area.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, along with Boulder Police Department officers, responded to the high school at 6600 Arapahoe Road around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, according to a social media post from the sheriff’s office.
The school had been placed under lockdown due to a person nearby and police were working to secure the building.
“Allow first responders to access the area and don’t go to the school,” the sheriff’s office said in the post.
As of 1 p.m., nothing had turned up, as officers continued searching the school, according to a spokesperson from the sheriff’s office.
Initially, the reporting party said they saw someone on the roof of the school with a weapon. Contractors were working on the roof at the time, according to a subsequent post by the sheriff’s office.
Deputies searched the roof and contractors, but none were armed.
The school cancelled the lockdown around 1:30 p.m.
