19-year-old arrested in shooting death of man found near Cherry Creek High School

Greenwood Village Police arrested Jorge Trujillo after Jose Angel Hernandez's body was found near East Union Avenue and South Yosemite Street

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in the death of a man who was found shot multiple times inside a vehicle in April near Cherry Creek High School, Greenwood Village Police said on Thursday.

Jorge Trujillo, of Aurora, is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder in the April 27 death of Jose Angel Hernandez. Greenwood Village Police officers found Hernandez’s body inside a vehicle about 5 a.m. that Saturday morning near East Union Avenue and South Yosemite Street.

While the area is across the street from Cherry Creek High School, the fatal shooting was not connected to the school, police said.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Trujillo on May 14. It was unclear when he was arrested.

Trujillo was being held in the Arapahoe County jail on $1 million bail. He is next due in court on Sept. 3.
