Casa Bonita changing reservation system

Since the beloved restaurant reopened last year, reservations have only been available to people who received an invite through an email signup list.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — After more than a year of hosting dinners on an invite-only basis, Casa Bonita will open reservations to the public later this month.

The restaurant, a Denver-area institution known for cliff divers, a cave and sopapillas, said on its website that reservations will be open to everyone starting at 3 p.m. on Sept. 16. Reservations will be accepted for dates starting on Oct. 1.

When reservations open to the public, guests will no longer be required to pay for their meal before they arrive, and all will receive table service. Everyone over the age of 3 will still be required to order an entrée, the website says.

The beloved Mexican restaurant filed for bankruptcy in 2021, after the COVID-19 pandemic hit. “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone bought the restaurant, gave it $12 million worth of renovations, and partnered with James Beard award nominee Dana Rodriguez to update the menu.

Casa Bonita reopened in June 2023. Since then, reservations have only been available to people who received an invite through an email signup list. Walk-ins are not accepted.

If you have an invitation link to purchase tickets, the restaurant said you can still use it to book a table for dates and times through Sept. 30.

A documentary on the restaurant and renovation, “¡Casa Bonita Mi Amor!” is premiering this weekend at the Telluride Film Festival.
