Denver weather: Rain showers return Wednesday with a cold front from up north
Rain returns Wednesday around metro Denver as a cold front sweeps down from the northern Plains, bringing cooler temperatures and moisture.
Denver residents can expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
It’ll be partly sunny, with a high near 83. Light and variable wind becoming north 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
“A cold front will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the region this afternoon and evening,” the NWS said. “A couple of strong to severe storms are possible, with gusty winds and hail. A few showers and storms may linger through the night tonight.”
Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 9 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 a.m. It’ll be mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
