Mountain town wreck turns fatal after truck crashes into bowling alley parking lot
A mountain town crash turned fatal on Saturday night in Walden, according to Colorado State Patrol.
A press release on the matter indicates that a 21-year-old male driver from Steamboat Springs that was operating a Chevrolet Silverado failed to navigate a sharp 90-degree right turn along the town’s Main Street, which is part of Colorado Highway 125, at about 10:14 p.m. As a result, the southbound truck left the road and traveled into the parking lot of The 10th Frame bowling alley.
Once in the parking lot, the truck collided with two 18-year-old women and a parked vehicle. Both women were flown to the hospital with severe injuries, with one succumbing to her injuries and the other left in life-threatening condition.
The driver of the truck stayed on scene and is cooperating with law enforcement, with the investigation into the tragic accident still underway. Details about whether or not excessive speed or driving under the influence were involved have not been released.
While a press release on the matter described both victims as from Walden, Steamboat Radio’s Shannon Lukens reached out to provide additional information related to the person who was killed, indicating that she was from out-of-the-country but working in Walden at the time of her death.
The identities of the women who were struck have not been released.
