The richest Coloradans: Forbes’ 400 list includes 4 Colorado billionaires
Well-known publication Forbes recently published their 2024 list of the wealthiest Americans as of September 1 – and four Coloradans ended up snagging a spot among the richest 400 people in the US.
The list was ultimately topped by well-known names: Elon Musk (and his $244 billion), Jeff Bezos (and his $197 billion), and Mark Zuckerberg (and his $181 billion). That said, the first Coloradan isn’t too far behind.
Philip Anschutz, with a net worth of $16.9 billion, ended up ranking 45th overall. Anschutz is invested in a number of industries including energy, transportation, media, and entertainment. Many people likely recognize his name from his ownership of Anschutz Entertainment Group – commonly called AEG, which is the world’s largest owner of sports teams, sports events, and sports venues, also having a major role in live music and entertainment (that includes ownership of Coachella). Anschutz is also known for his local involvement in Colorado as the owner of The Broadmoor as well as Clarity Media, which is the parent company of the Colorado Springs Gazette and Denver Gazette.
Other Coloradans on the list include John Malone (cable and media industry, worth 10.7 billion and ranking 89th overall), Mark Stevens (venture capitalist, worth $8.3 billion and ranking 137th overall), and Pat Stryker (medical equipment industry, worth $3.9 billion and ranking 338th overall).
