Third iteration of 14er-themed whiskey set to hit shelves this month, highlighting new peak
A local whiskey company is again paying homage to Colorado’s highest peaks.
TINCUP Whiskey, a brand that’s popular among outdoor recreation enthusiasts thanks to a rugged design that makes its bottles more packable, has announced that their 3rd release of the Fourteener Bourbon line is on the way. After featuring Longs Peak and Quandary Peak on the label of the first two respective iterations, this round of bottles will include imagery of Mount Sneffels, a highly-recognizable 14,147-foot peak in southwest Colorado.
The Fourteener Bourbon line is the brand’s high-end variety, described by TINCUP as “a rich and smooth straight bourbon, aged for fourteen years in new white American oak barrels and then cut to proof with pure Eldorado Spring water.”
TINCUP Fourteener Release No. 3 is priced at $69.99, which may seem high to those not familiar with making purchases of aged whiskey. At 14 years aged, most competitors end up retailing their bottles for more than $100. It’s also worth noting that a portion of proceeds from the release are set to be donated to the Colorado Fourteener Initiative, which is the non-profit behind maintaining the routes up Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks.
Pre-orders for TINCUP Fourteener Release No. 3 are now available, with the bottle set to head to select retailers nationwide later in October.
