Colorado at ‘epicenter’ of above-average temperatures expected in US this October

It won’t take more than a glance for Coloradans checking out the National Weather Service’s monthly outlook for October to think “Yikes!”

Much of America is likely to have above-average temperatures this month, with Colorado sitting at the epicenter of where these toasty temps are most likely.

In additional to the hot temperatures, the state is also expected to be drier than normal, as depicted on the map below:

These trends are in line with warmer and drier-than-normal weather that’s expected in the Centennial State through at least December. Current mapping shows a little bit of relief once February hits in terms of heat, but current forecasting is showing that Coloradans should prepare for above-average temperatures across much of the state next summer, too.

Drought continues to be an issue in Colorado, too, with 51.73 percent of the state considered to be “abnormally dry” or worse, per the US Drought Monitor. Of that area, 24.4 percent of the state falls into a technical stage of drought.
