The Denver Gazette’s predictions for Broncos-Raiders

The Denver Gazette sports staff gives their predictions for Sunday’s Broncos-Raiders game.

Paul Klee’s pick: Raiders 17, Broncos 16

Gosh, looks like The Denver Gazette sports staff is all seashells and sunshine on Bo Nix’s Broncos. Fair enough. But I’m old enough to have witnessed all eight losses of Denver’s ghastly streak vs. Las Vegas — by an average of more than a TD per defeat. Just don’t boo when the one-of-a-kind 1977 Broncos get their flowers.

Klee’s record: 2-2 overall

Chris Schmaedeke’s pick: Broncos 23, Raiders 17

It doesn’t make sense that the Broncos have lost eight straight to the Raiders. Both teams haven’t been good, but the Raiders have been dysfunctional. Bo Nix and Denver break the streak on Sunday with a close win.

Schmaedeke’s record: 2-2 overall

Chris Tomasson’s pick: Broncos 20, Raiders 17

Does that score sound familiar? Well, with the Broncos honoring the legendary 1977 team, it seems only appropriate to have the same score of them defeating the Raiders that season in the AFC Championship Game. But if there is a controversial Rob Lytle-type non-fumble by Denver, the Broncos better hope the Raiders are out of challenges.

Tomasson’s record: 2-2 overall

Mark Kiszla’s pick: Broncos 24, Raiders 13

OK, how hard can predicting the outcome of a Broncos’ game possibly be? As my longtime friend Woody Paige is fond of saying: This isn’t rocket surgery. So I’ve got it right this time. No, really. Honest. Trust me?

Kiszla’s record: 0-4 overall

Kyle Fredrickson’s pick: Broncos 13, Raiders 6

It might be ugly. But it works. Another defensive masterpiece lays the foundation for a gritty Broncos victory. They keep a dysfunctional Raiders team out of the end zone and QB Bo Nix does just enough for his first home NFL win.

Fredrickson: 2-2 overall
