1 dead in Aurora after vehicle hits pedestrian along Colfax

Man was struck while jaywalking across Colfax Avenue near Macon Street

A man died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Aurora early Saturday afternoon, according to the Aurora Police Department.

In a news release, police said the man jaywalked across Colfax Avenue near Macon Street, where he was struck by a driver in a Toyota SUV westbound on Colfax.

The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police, who posted the crash on social media platform X at 1:30 p.m.

Police said the driver stayed on scene, adding that there was no indication speed or alcohol was involved.

The crash caused a road closure that lasted for around two hours, according to Denver Gazette news partner 9News.

Aurora Police Department’s investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

Saturday’s crash was Aurora’s 37th traffic-related fatality of 2024, according to police data.
