No. 1 Denver Pioneers soccer ready for matchup with fellow No. 1 Pittsburgh | Colorado Sunshine

Where good news shines

The No. 6/1 University of Denver soccer program appears ready for its national audition.

No. 1 Denver vs. No. 1 Pittsburgh is 6 p.m. Monday on ACC Network.

After a 6-0 win over St. Thomas at University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Saturday, the Pioneers (No. 1 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll) are set to face Pittsburgh (No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches poll) in a juicy matchup.

Pittsburgh is No. 3 in the Top Drawer poll.

The Pios had no issue pulling away from St. Thomas, scoring four goals over a stretch of 14 minutes, 46 seconds, and securing their first five-plus goals performance this season.

Denver’s eight assists tied the program record, while Ian Smith’s tied a program record with three on his own. Oje Ofunrein scored for the second-straight match and moved his career point total to 39, good for 12th in the program’s record books. Tyler Schommer had five points.
