Denver weather: Early morning rain Monday gives way to afternoon sun
Early morning showers will give way to a return of sunshine later Monday afternoon around metro Denver, but overall the day will be mostly cloudy as remnants from the weekend storm loom.
Denver residents can expect a 40% chance of rain, mainly before 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It’ll be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 67. West northwest winds to blow between 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
“Rain and snow showers are expected to persist through late morning across the high country today,” the NWS said. “A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued as 4-8″ of snow are expected for elevations above 9,000`across the western Front Range Mountains. Conditions may be slick for this morning`s commute, especially on mountain passes and near the Eisenhower-Johnson Tunnel.”
Tonight it will be clear, with a low around 44. West northwest winds between 7 to 9 mph, becoming south southwest in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
