Douglas County man arrested on suspicion of 16 counts of sexual exploitation of a child
Franklin Levi Camp II, 32, was arrested following a search of his home on Sept. 27
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting and exploiting a juvenile.
Franklin Levi Camp II, from Elizabeth, was arrested on Sept. 27 and booked into the Douglas County jail on suspicion of two Counts of sexual assault, 16 Counts of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of a controlled substance following a warranted search of his home in September, according to a news release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office received a report from the parents of a child claiming that Camp had been communicating inappropriately and engaging in physical contact with the child. The parents found explicit photographs and videos on the child’s phone as well as communication between the two.
Camp was a family friend who met the child on a camping trip, according to arrest records. The juvenile admitted to having sex with the man on two different occasions at two different hotels.
Deputies conducted a search of the suspect’s home on Sept. 27, finding both cocaine and methamphetamine in his desk drawer.
In an interview with detectives, Camp admitted to both sending sexual images and having intercourse with the juvenile, according to the arrest records.
His wife also told detectives that she was unaware of the relationship and was unsure of how she was going to provide for her and her children after telling Camp he was no longer allowed at the home.
“Protecting the most vulnerable in our community is our highest priority, and we will continue to pursue those who harm others, especially our children,” Sheriff Darren Weekly said in the press release.
Camp is due in court for a hearing on Oct. 28.
