The 2024-25 NBA season tips off Tuesday with the defending-champion Boston Celtics hosting the New York Knicks.

Analysis: The betting markets are not as high on the Nuggets as they have been in the past. Some teams in the Western Conference have gotten better and may have passed Denver. Considering voter fatigue, Jokic would have be really special to win another MVP award.

Analysis: It is not shocking Boston is the overwhelming favorite to repeat since the Celtics bring back their entire core. The Thunder are possible the deepest team in the league and ready to take the next step.

Analysis: The top three are all in the Northwest Division. The Thunder, Timberwolves and Nuggets all make a strong case. Last season’s winner, the Mavs, are right there as well. The West is deep and will be a fight.

Analysis: The Celtics are the team to beat, but the Knicks, with the addition of Karl Anthony Towns, are going to be right there. Philly has to stay healthy and Paul George is already hurt. A darkhorse pick? The Orlando Magic.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks (+850)

Anthony Edwards, Timberwolves (+850)

Analysis: Look out for Edwards here. This could be his season after the breakout in the playoffs. Doncic will win an MVP at some point and it makes sense that he is the favorite.
