Denver Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon expected to miss multiple weeks with calf strain
Nuggets power forward Aaron Gordon injured his right calf early in Monday's win over the Raptors and is expected to miss multiple weeks.
The close to the Nuggets’ five-game homestand just got more complicated.
Starting power forward Aaron Gordon is expected to miss multiple weeks after straining his right calf early in Monday’s game, The Denver Gazette confirmed Tuesday.
A league source told The Denver Gazette the Nuggets are still gathering information to fully determine the severity. ESPN first reported the injury.
Gordon got out on a fast break 4 minutes into the 121-119 win over the Toronto Raptors. He tried to euro step around Raptors guard Davion Mitchell but was called for a charge. He flexed his right leg immediately after the sequence and headed straight toward the tunnel.
The 29-year-old did not return to the game. Peyton Watson started the second half in Gordon’s place, while reserve forwards Hunter Tyson and Zeke Nnaji also got extra playing time off the bench.
Coming into Monday, Gordon was listed on the injury report with a right knee contusion and right calf inflammation.
Denver closes the week with games against the Thunder on Wednesday, the Heat on Friday and the Mavericks on Sunday. Following a rare four-day break in the middle of the season, the Nuggets start a three-game road trip in New Orleans on Nov. 15. It’s likely Denver’s without Gordon for at least the next six games given the estimated timeline.
