Broncos QB Bo Nix earns NFL’s Rookie of the Week honors
Denver hosts Atlanta Falcons in Week 11 of NFL season
ENGLEWOOD — Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has been named Rookie of the Week, the NFL announced Thursday.
Nix threw for 215 yards on 22-of-30 passing with two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 16-14 road loss Sunday to the Chiefs.
Nix is the first Broncos rookie to receive the honor since cornerback Pat Surtain in 2021. Previous rookies to win the award include quarterbacks Drew Lock (2019), Tim Tebow (2010) and Jay Cutler (2006).
Nix enters Week 11 against the Falcons leading all NFL rookies in completions (206) and passing touchdowns (10). His 1,968 passing yards rank second. Nix has thrown six interceptions over 10 starts.
“We’ve been through a lot of highs and a lot of lows this year already, and I think that we’re very close to turning a corner and getting over the hump,” Nix said following practice on Wednesday at Broncos Park. “I think we have a young team and we’ve done a lot of growing this year. We have some younger guys that are playing a lot of ball, so that only helps. I definitely think it’s ahead of us. I think we’ve played some good ball so far, but I think the consistency piece is going to continue to grow for us. I think it’s right around the corner.”
The Broncos (5-5) host the Atlanta Falcons (6-4) on Sunday at Empower Field.
