It’s winter and needy families are getting help in obtaining cold-weather clothing from a Broomfield-based nonprofit, A Precious Child, and the Regional Transportation District.
RTD is inviting employees and customers to “stuff a bus” with new, unused cold-weather clothing for both children and adults, according to a release.
A Precious Child partners with 300 agencies to serve those in need living in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson and Weld counties.
RTD is asking for donations across the metro area to fill an RTD bus with clothing items such as coats, gloves, scarves, socks and sweaters that have not been worn and contain their tags. The campaign runs through mid-December with donation drop-offs available at three locations.
RTD’s winter parade bus and staff will travel to the following stations on Saturday, Dec. 14, to collect the cold-weather items from the public and engage with the community:
• 9-10:30 a.m. – Downtown Boulder Station
• 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. – Denver Union Station
• 2:45-4:15 p.m. – Littleton•Downtown Station
The RTD Gives clothing drive showcases the agency’s dedication to community support and builds on the success of the agency’s Operation Give-a-Gift initiative from past years, which allowed RTD employees to contribute items and funds to local charities throughout the month of December.
All collected items will be delivered to A Precious Child during the week of Dec. 16. For more information about the RTD Gives clothing drive and how you can participate, visit rtd-denver.com.
