1 dead, 1 arrested after Saturday morning crash on Tower Road in Aurora

Police said the driver at fault had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest, police say

The Aurora Police Department arrested a man following a fatal crash Saturday morning.

Officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Tower Road and 40th Avenue around 7 a.m. Saturday morning, according to a press release from the department.

Investigators determined a black Jeep was speeding northbound on Tower Road when it collided with a Chevy Cobalt, according to the release. The Jeep rolled after the crash and a nearby Subaru was struck by debris from the crash.

The driver of the Subaru did not sustain any injuries; the Cobalt and Jeep drivers were taken to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Cobalt later died from his injuries.

Police noted that the driver of the Jeep was at fault and had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest. The driver will be taken to jail on the warrant and suspicion of additional charges from the crash upon his release from the hospital.

Northbound Tower Road will be closed for multiple hours while the department investigates the incident.

The identification of the deceased driver will later be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
