WATCH LIVE: Biden pardons turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving

President Joe Biden is pardoning two turkeys at the White House for the 77th anniversary of the National Thanksgiving Turkey presentation.

The ceremony will begin from the South Lawn at 11 a.m.

Biden will pardon Peach and Blossom, both turkeys from Minnesota, as part of a pre-Thanksgiving tradition that goes back to President Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War.

The first pardon of a turkey, ahead of the holiday for which the bird is the traditional main dish, was conducted by President George H.W. Bush after his predecessor, President Ronald Reagan, became the first to use the term “pardon” in the ceremony in 1987.

After Biden participates in the ceremony at the White House, he will fly to New York City to participate in a Friendsgiving event Monday evening.
