The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office officially filed charges against a 64-year-old woman who allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian in her vehicle.

Mary Landry, 64, faces charges of careless driving resulting in death and misuse of a wireless telephone while driving resulting in death following a crash that killed 59-year-old Judy Florian in Louisville on July 8, according to a news release from the district attorney’s office.

Louisville police responded to a crash at the intersection of Sagebrush Way and Via Appia Way around 6 p.m. on July 8, according to authorities.

Florian was crossing Via Appia Way in the crosswalk after having activated the flashing crosswalk lights, authorities said. A witness stated that Landry came over the hill in a 2014 Lexus RX and struck Florian, who was sent airborne 12-13 feet. She died from her injuries on the scene before first responders arrived.

Following investigations by the Louisville Police Department, Landry was issued a summons on Nov. 24, stating her charges.

“The conclusion of this investigation marks an important step toward understanding the circumstances of this tragic incident,” Louisville Chief Rafael Gutierrez said in the news release. “We are committed to transparency and accountability in all that we do, and we hope the findings provide some clarity to the community.”
