Out-of-stater arrested in attack that killed 1 dog and left another seriously injured in Colorado
A case related to the brutal attack of two dogs in Colorado has come full circle with the arrest of a suspect believed to have been the perpetrator of the crimes.
The dogs were attacked on the night of August 29, 2022, located in a fenced-in yard in the Colorado town of Wellington at the time. It was unclear what led to the attack and whether or not a weapon was used, but one of the dogs ended up dead and the other was seriously injured.
During the investigation, a tipster identified 47-year-old David Thompson, of Arkansas, as a suspect. More than two years after the attack, in November of 2024, Thompson was arrested in Arkansas and extradited back to Larimer County.
“This was a disturbing case that robbed a family of their beloved pet. Our team put considerable effort into identifying the person responsible and building a strong, evidence-based case. While it can’t reverse the loss, I hope this arrest brings some measure of comfort,” said Captain Bobby Moll, who leads the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Investigations division.
All charges are merely accusations and any suspect is to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
