VIDEO: Chaos in Colorado Springs as surprise snow snarls traffic

While Colorado Springs residents were expecting a little bit of snow today, the several inches that ended up falling were enough to shut down several key stretches of road around the city, including a portion of I-25 for a brief period.

A video recently published on Facebook by OG Colorado Springs Memes that’s credited to Devon Nabb captures the scene in the area of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Union Boulevard, showing traffic coming to a gridlock as multiple vehicles are unable to handle the hilly terrain amid slick conditions.

One key factor of this storm that contributed to problems is how suddenly the heavy snowfall appeared and started to stack up. Within a matter of less than an hour, roads went from being clear to covered.

By now, most roads appear to have been reopened based on CDOT’s CoTrip map. That said, conditions may still be hazardous and delays are expected.
