DENVER — Meow Wolf, the New Mexico-based immersive art production and entertainment company, announced on Thursday that it will cut 20% of its central workforce.

The cuts mean the company will cut about 75 roles outside of exhibition operations, according to a statement from the company. This will affect employees in all levels of the company, including senior leadership positions, the statement said.

The changes are due to “shifting financial realities and evolving priorities” that forced them to reevaluate their business needs to continue offering their services, according to the statement.

“This moment represents both a difficult transition and an opportunity to refocus Meow Wolf’s future strategy,” the statement reads, in part. “We are deeply grateful to all the individuals who are departing for their contributions to Meow Wolf. Their passion, creativity, and dedication have shaped the company’s growth and its standing as a leader in the immersive arts.”

In April, Meow Wolf announced it planned on cutting its expenses by 10% and reducing its workforce by 165 employees. This resulted in 50 layoffs in Denver’s Convergence Station. At this point, it is unclear how this month’s cuts will impact employees in Denver.

Currently, Meow Wolf has exhibitions in five cities:

• Convergence Station in Denver
• The House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe
• Omega Mart in Las Vegas
• The Real Unreal in Grapevine, a suburb in the Dallas-Forth Worth area
• Radio Tave in Houston

The Convergence Station opened in September 2021 at the northwest part of the intersection of Interstate 25 and Colfax Avenue. In its first nine months of operations, it surpassed 1 million visitors.
