3 Colorado towns included in ranking of ‘best destinations for snow’

It’s no secret in Colorado that snow brings plenty of opportunity for exciting winter activities, including snowshoeing, skiing, ice skating, sledding, sleigh rides, and more.

Related to all of the snow-fun that’s enjoyed in Colorado each winter, USA Today released its list of the best destinations around the country for snow, and the winners offer plenty of winter activities and “gorgeous snow globe landscapes.” Three Colorado locations were included.

The USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice awards program highlights the best in the country’s destinations, food and drink, hotels, and things to do. An expert panel selects the nominees and readers vote to determine the winners.

When it came to ‘best spots for snow’ in the US, Frisco ranked the highest among Colorado spots by snagging sixth place. According to USA Today, Frisco was founded due to the Colorado Silver Boom and has now become a popular wintertime destination. The town is located near four major ski resorts, Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin. In addition to its close proximity to several major resorts, those who would like to stay in town can also go tubing at the Frisco Adventure Park, give Nordic skiing a try, or take a sleigh ride.

Winter Park ended up ranking in seventh place. Winter Park Resort draws plenty of skiers and snowboarders throughout the winter months, with the town also offering opportunities for tubing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and more.

Ranking the lowest among the Colorado towns – but still high on the nationwide list – was Aspen, which ranked ninth. Tucked in the Rocky Mountains, Aspen is known for its world-class ski resort. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, the area offers pretty much any winter activity a visitor is looking for.

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan took first place as the ‘best destination for snow.’
