Denver weather: Clouds increase Thursday with a potential for showers

Rain ended late afternoon into early evening on Christmas Day, and for Thursday’s weather around metro Denver, it is going to be very similar to yesterday.

Denver residents can expect increasing clouds today, with a high near 54, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. South winds to blow between 5 to 7 mph become light and variable.

“Snow showers will develop over the mountains this afternoon, and light snow is likely across the mountains tonight,” the NWS said. “Accumulations will mostly be under 3 inches, but up to 6 inches around Rabbit Ears Pass.”

There is a chance of showers over the Front Range foothills and in the Denver area in the late afternoon and early evening, with mostly snow in the foothills and rain at lower elevations. Any snow accumulation in these areas will be light with no travel impacts expected.

Tonight expect a 20% chance of showers before 10 p.m. It’ll be cloudy, then gradually become partly cloudy with a low around 32. Calm winds become south southwest around 6 mph after midnight.

The weekend will warm up with highs into the mid 50s and low 60s across the northern Front Range.
