Where good news shines
University of Denver coach David Carle and the USA Hockey team dominated Germany 10-4 in their first game of the IIHF World Junior Championships Thursday in Ottawa, Ontario.
The United States was led by James Hagens and Gabe Perreault, who had two goals and two assists apiece. Defenseman Cole Hutson racked up five assists.
Carle led the team to the gold medal in last year’s tournament and has his team off to a hot start once again. His team outshot Germany 56-22 in the win.
Denver sophomore defenseman Zeev Buium is also part of the team for the second straight year and is an alternate captain on the squad. He didn’t have any points Thursday.
The United States’ next game is on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Latvia.
