Denver Pioneers hockey ranked No. 6 ahead of top-10 series vs. No. 7 Maine | Colorado Sunshine
Where good news shines
The Pios are No. 6 — for now.
The University of Denver hockey team was ranked sixth nationally when the USCHO.com and USA Hockey/The rink Live polls were released Monday.
That’s a dip from No. 5 in the previous poll.
DU hasn’t played a game that counts since splitting the Gold Pan series with then-No. 10 Colorado College on Dec. 13-14. The Pioneers tied UNLV 6-6 in an exhibition Saturday.
No. 1 Michigan State, No. 2 Boston College and No. 3 Minnesota stayed atop both polls.
Colorado College came in at No. 8. The NCHC placed a nation’s-high six teams in the USCHO.com poll and five in the USA Hockey/The Rink Live rankings.
Denver has a hefty series coming up at No. 7 Maine on Friday (4 p.m., ESPNU) and Saturday (4:30 p.m., ESPN+).
