Douglas County Sheriff's Office
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — Interstate 25 south of Castle Rock has reopened after multiple crashes caused a closure of the interstate Tuesday night, including one that involved 20 vehicles.
Castle Rock Fire Chief Norris Croom said the 20-vehicle crash happened just before 9 p.m. on northbound I-25 south of the Plum Creek Parkway exit. Two people were treated on the scene, Croom said. No serious injuries were reported.
Croom said a fire truck, an ambulance and a battalion chief’s vehicle were among the vehicles involved in the crash.
At least two other crashes were reported in the same area between 8:20 and 9 p.m., Colorado State Patrol said. One involved a vehicle hitting a cable rail, and one involved a sedan and an SUV. No injuries were reported in either of those crashes.
Slick and icy roads and multiple spin-outs were reported in the area.
Crashes and icy conditions prompted closures on interstates across the metro area Tuesday night, including on Interstate 25 near 120th Avenue and Interstate 76 near 136th Avenue.
Travelers are encouraged to check COtrip.org for the latest closure information.
